Investment in the group continues
28th November 2008
The last few weeks and months have seen some of our competitors falling by the wayside or experiencing extreme financial difficulty with a poor survival prognosis. Despite the weak financial climate, the Alderson Print Group has continued the long standing policy introduced by its founders of investing in people, technology and systems, all with the aim of providing our clients with best-in-class service, and their print at competitive prices.

In January, the group recruited a variable data expert into our Digital printing division, who will be channelling his efforts into expanding our existing variable data capability of our two 7 colour HP Indigo presses. By utilising the latest XMPie software, this will allow us to offer our clients a complete variable data marketing solution including personalised images.

January also saw the formal accreditation of our Web offset division to the BS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard. This was a direct result of the hard work put in by Alistair Tandy our Group Standards Manager, and the whole team at Web offset. We recognise the part we need to play in regard to sustainability and the environment, and the group has committed further resources and capital to enable Alistair to roll out the ISO 14001 standard to our Sheet-fed and Digital divisions during 2009.

In February, we completed a major upgrade of our RIP’s, software and servers in our Group Repro department. The upgrade to the equipment was designed to ensure that we maintain our reputation of producing high quality print, and to support our existing ISO 12647-2 Colour Management accreditation.

During this period of investment activity, our sales team has also been busy; securing major contract wins from blue chip organisations including BSkyB and English Heritage. The new contract wins have been supplemented by an unprecedented number of new potential clients contacting us. Our reputation and financial strength have attracted many enquiries, with organisations increasingly looking for a print partner with a demonstrable, verifiable solid financial base; with the capacity, capability, flexibility and pro-active approach to customer service essential in meeting a client’s changing requirements.

All of our activity, coupled with sound management and business direction, has been geared to ensure that the Alderson Print Group is superbly positioned to weather the current turmoil and is in a prime position to prosper when the upturn comes.
